Level: AmateurSomewhere between dawn and dusk, in the silence that ruled before the day became filled with sounds, the cookie, Besos de Café, was born. Its essence was elusive, like the fog that blankets a river in the morning, when nothing is clear yet and everything only has outlines, everything is possible.
All the ingredients were there, like little secrets waiting for their moment. Coffee, which carried the memories of all the quiet conversations where words were never spoken, and cocoa, heavy like a mystery that never quite gets solved. And butter, warm and comforting, like an embrace that needed no explanation. They had no names, no clarifications; they were simply parts of something that knew how to create perfection.
The cookie was steady, as if it knew that its time had only just come, but it had to wait. And while it rested, the world shifted around it, but it remained in silence. On the outside, it was crisp, firm like ancestors, but on the inside, it carried everything that was soft and quiet, everything that was serene. Only those who knew how to listen could recognize the scent within it – the scent of days gone by, the scent of conversations that were never had.
The glaze, which came last, was like the topping at dawn, where everything merges, where nothing is overemphasized, but everything is connected. Slowly, it covered each cookie, and with it came the moment that had waited so long.
Besos de Café became a part of the silence where nothing needed to be said. It left traces of something that was not of this world, something everyone felt but could never hold onto. It was a gentle reminder of all that passes through hands, through the day, through time – yet remains unsaid, unseen, but still present, in every bite. It was a moment where the past and present became one, where each bite was a story that needed no understanding – for it spoke everything that needed to be said.

This morning, I had an appointment with my hairdresser, who is also my dear friend and a great support in all my adventures. Knowing how much she loves coffee, I baked these cookies last night and decided to bring them to the salon to surprise her, while also brightening up her day and the whole team’s. The rain has been falling for days, and everyone’s a bit tired and sleepy, so these cookies brought a little warmth and emotion to the day. ✨
