Hi everyone! After proudly winning the #ChristmasChallenge, I would like to share a Hungarian Christmas dish with you.

Stuffed Cabbage à la Kolozsvár 🙂 Kolozsvár is a town (nowadays: Cluj-Napoca, Romania) that used to be a historical part of Hungary before the 1st World War.

Take fermented cabbage and stuff them with minced meat, rice, onion, salt, and pepper. Fry onion and mix it with paprika powder. Add the stuffed cabbage balls to the fried onion and pour water to cover the balls. Add black pepper and bay leaves and cook until the cabbage leaves become tender.

Traditionally, we serve it with sausage and a “rooster comb” made of fried bacon. 🙂 It is one of the most traditional dishes in Hungary during wintertime.

What is your favourite dish during this time of the year?

Oh, the mere thought of it has me craving it @orsolya-csernak Which drink is the most siutable for this dish?🇦🇷Here in Argentina it’s really hot today so I chose a really fresh salad. On winters it’s very common to prepare a lentice stew here. And I just love it 😁

          for a drink… white wine?

Do you mean lentils? I’m a bit confused about the terms lentice vs lentils. 🙂 Anyway, I love them, too. They say if you eat lentils on the first day of the year, you’ll get rich.

          💰😃

I didn’t know that @orsolya-csernak ! Yes, I meant ‘Lentils’ (my fingers played a spelling trick on me).😆
